Question about credit unions

Hi all! Just wondering...when applying for membership at a CU, do they always pull your credit report or only if you're applying for credit products as well? Just curious! Smiley Happy

Re: Question about credit unions

Randolph Brooks in San Antonio pulled TU for opening a checking account.  IMHO most banks and CU's will do this now.

Re: Question about credit unions

Almost all do at time of membership. Most pull a hard INQ, some a soft and a hard when you apply for credit. Each institution has their own credit practices - many are considerably different from the banks you may be used to dealing with.

Re: Question about credit unions

NFCU, Addison Avenue and USAA soft pull for membership.

Alliant, PenFed, PSECU and many others hard pull.

Re: Question about credit unions

NFCU never pulled my credit to open the account.  If they did it never showed on my CR.

Re: Question about credit unions

Generally speaking most CU's will do a hard pull for membership at EQ. There are always exceptions.

Good Luck
