Question about paying past due in increments

January of 2007 I took out a tax refund anticipation loan with HSBC.  Due to underlying circumstances I was not able to pay off that balance and it became late.  When I deployed in February 07 I used my extra income to pay of this debt and a lot of outstanding balances.  I first contacted HSBC in writing regarding my interest in making payment on this outstanding loan.  I made small monthly payments (I can't remember the amount) until it was paid off in August 2007.  My concern is that they still reported to the credit bureaus as the debt being 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days late.  Can they do this, or is this something worthy of disputing?

Also, I have on my credit report a credit card back in April 2001 that was a charge off but I also paid it in full while deployed (love that tax free extra money!).  Since it was paid in full, does it stay on my credit report, or since it was a charge off (negative input) will it be removed from my credit report?

Your help is most appreciated.

FICO Score 563 (Hey, it was 505 in Feb 07. I know I got a long way to go.)

Re: Question about paying past due in increments

First of All I would contact HSBC HQS and explain to them that you are a service member and was deployed and dispute those lates if need be supply them with copy of deployment orders they will remove them. Don't waste your time with the customer reps they can't do much contact the HQS look for the number with the BBB while your there file a complaint on them they will have to answer that complaint and explain what happened. And supply copies of deployment orders the credit card will have to remove it from your report and HSBC will do the same if You complain to BBB and HQS office . Look up the service members civil relief act and if anything can help use that . I have had 4 removed already just by filing complaints with bbb and the ftc and calling company presidents office it works just time consuming and keep calling until you hear what you want to hear most company presidents wanna do the right thing for service members and since its paid it will be easy to get em to remove em for ya just don't take no for an answer.. Tell em its **bleep** time they support the Troops lol ....and they will believe me I was shocked it was so easy !!!
