Question about what lenders see when we app for a card

Do lenders (CC companies and banks) see when we cold app as opposed to a preapproval or pop up? I am guessing they have access to all of that information, but can anyone confirm or have specifics to offer on this for any CCs?

They can see everything you've done up until the time they request your credit. The only thing they can't see are soft pulls.

Thank you. I was just curious as I see so many posts about lenders closing accounts right after approving, but why do they do this when they offer preapps? Doesn't make sense, but some things don't in the world of credit.

Generally, those closures are going to be due to something the cardholder did after they were approved, e.g. opening other accounts or having a payment returned NSF.
