Question on Bankruptcy and CR

First I'd like to say...wow!!  this is an incredible forum and I'm excited to have found it!!

I spent a good part of the day reading through some of the posts and had some questions that I hope can be quickly cleared up.

1) I filed bankruptcy and it was discharged in March of 2005.  Many of the debts discharged are over 7 years old from the time I opened those accounts(1999 and 2000).  Based on what I've read thus far, would it be appropriate to send GW letters to some of these creditors to ask they remove this from my report?  Or does the 7 years start from the time of my banruptcy discharge?  I know it couldn't hurt to write the GW letters but I want to know what my legal rights might be.

2) One of my creditors filed a lawsuit prior to my bankruptcy.  It shows under my public records in my credit reports however it shows that the lawsuit was dropped due to the bankruptcy.  Should this still be on my report if I don't have a judgement against me?  Do I dispute that with the big 3?

Appreciate everyones help!!

Welcome aboard!

I'll take question 1.

Those accounts that were IIB will now remain 7 years from the date they were reported as IIB.

You can still GW the creditors and hope for an early removal.  Good luck on that... it does happen!

Consider dispute anything else that is not reporting accurately though.
