Question on SOL

Good Morning!!!!! (Where I am anyway)
I have a question on SOL.
I live in NJ so it is 6 years.
I had an account that DOFD was 7/2001 so that is over 6 years ago but it is still on my credit report.
However this item has turned into a judgement, is that why it is still on my report? The OC is listing it and a CA and it is listed in Legal Items.
Any one had any experience with this type of issue.  I don't know where to go from here.

Re: Question on SOL

for starters the SOL for your state and the credit reporting times are two different scenerios.    Your credit reporting time of the debt is usually 7.5 years for DOFD.   If it has turned into a judgment then there isn't much you can do since now it will be on your report for up to 10 years.   Best best bet before it can get anyworse is to set up a payment arrangment to pay back the judgment.   You don't want to wake up one day to see that your bank account has been raided or they put in for wage garnishment and they can go after your tax returns etc.

Re: Question on SOL

ok thanks alot for that info.
I do not want this to get any worse than it already is and I figured it would not just go away.
Once I satisfy the Judgement would you know if it gets reported as Paid on the CR.

Yes- and nothing says you can't get a PFD on a Judgment
