Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

I know that reports from myFICO mask medical information, so I was wondering if all 3rd party reseller reports should have that information masked. Even if it is your report.

Like TC....sometimes the provider shows, sometimes it doesn't. Should it ever show?

Re: Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

Sidewinder,

On all reports it will show if it's a med provider, with an attempt to mask info that could help a viewer infer what type of medical care was received.
For example, your report might show Carolinas Medical Center as an OC, but anyone else pulling your report would only see "Medical". This is the same from myFICO as it is when you order your reports direct from either of the three.

I know EX, for one, has it clearly stated on 1st page of your report that they will mask med provider id'ing info.

I understand that what other ppl get will have it masked.

What I am saying, if you pull your own report through a 3rd party reseller, like myFICO or TC, should it be masked as well, seeing as  you aren't getting it straight from the CRA yourself.

I ask because through myFICO it is masked or rather reported by a series of numbers and letters, however through TC, it is masked on the EX report but not the EQ report.

Re: Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

aaaaahhh, got it.

That, I don't know. Everything is masked on myFICO, to the point of making it pretty impossible to figure out what you're looking at...

I had to go look at my reports on TC to see what's listed.. TU & EX list both the "Med1/2" listing that is supposed to help mask, plus the OC name..

Re: Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

Yes-
All medical collections MUST be masked EXCEPT when you pull your own report directly from the CRA.

It is my understanding that medical collections are masked when creditors pull as well (has not been confirmed)

It is common for non-medical collections to be masked if the CA does medical collections. This makes it easier for them to not be in violation.

So, if I pull my reports from TC and under EX(sorry I think I said EQ earlier) it shows like this........who would be in violation? Also, my 3 other medical show the provider when I pull through TC.

Re: Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

Also, I just called a lender whom I have a loan with and just recently pulled my CR. They stated that it shows on their report who the OC is for on my medical collections.  However, the CA's name is similar to the provider's name so they told I could come get a copy to look at.

I have gotten a copy before and was thinking it didnt mask the information, which is why I called. I don't have that copy any longer though.

Re: Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

IMHO- Either the CA is not coding it correctly or EX is providing the data in Violation-

I looked at my Brothers 3 in 1 and the Medical CA's show like yours for EX. but say MEDICAL for EQ and TU.

Re: Question regarding masking of Medical Providers and 3rd party CR resellers

Well, I just got a copy of my report from the lender. They pull EQ. It shows the CA's name and OC's name partially. There is only room for 15 characters in that section, so not all of the name is shown due to length restrictions.

For CA says MID SO CR-- which is Mid Southern Credit Bureau-(MSCB)

For OC says MISSOURI SOUTHE - which is Missouri Southern Regional Healthcare.

-----------------------

On my TC, the ones from MSCB are not masked on either EX or EQ, don't show on TU.

For the one other(that I posted above) it is masked on the EQ report and says medical in comments but is not masked on EX nor does it say medical in the comments section.

----------------------

On myFICO EQ report, the medical from Consumers Adjustment Co. is masked with letters/numbers. Even the CA is masked.

The MSCB shows like this-

The collection agency "578yc06447" was hired to collect a debt of $150 originally owed to "Missouri Southe" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".

The collection agency "578yc06447" was hired to collect a debt of $165 originally owed to "Missouri Southe" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".

On myFICO EX report, the medical from Consumer Adjustment Co. shows

The collection agency "Consumer Adjustment Co" was hired to collect a debt of $30 originally owed to "Ozarks Medical Center" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXX".

And for MSCB it shows:

The collection agency "Mscb Inc" was hired to collect a debt of $150 originally owed to "Missouri Southern Hlthcre Rg" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".

The collection agency "Mscb Inc" was hired to collect a debt of $165 originally owed to "Missouri Southern Hlthcre Rg" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".

The collection agency "Mscb Inc" was hired to collect a debt of $161 originally owed to "Orthopaedic Assoc Of Se Mo Rg" on account number "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".

There are 4 medical........1 from Consumers Adjustment and 3 from MSCB. MSCB shows 2 on EQ and all 3 on EX. All of the ones from MSCB would have been paid by insurance, had they billed it correctly.

Would I be able to call the CRA and ask if these are marked as medical?
