Question regarding possible split credit files.

Hello Everyone!

I am new to your forum, and would like to tell you this site has been 100 times better than some of the others I have visited.  THANK ALL OF YOU WHO CONTRIBUTE!

I started my credit repair back in August 2007, and have learned a great deal about self credit repair along the way.

August 2007 Fico's   TU 505     EX 504     EQ 522
March  2008             TU 622     EX 614     EQ 689

My question has to do with possibility of split credit file with equifax. My score sometimes changes for no apparent reason and shows with my whole middle name on some reports and listing just my middle initial on others.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
Jeff

Re: Question regarding possible split credit files.

This is not uncommon-

My DOB goes on and off EQ on a regular basis-
I really thing that some creditors update multiple pieces of DATA when they report-

If you pull an EX report from EX- it will show name variations-
You can call EX and find out who is reporting the name variation and have it updated-

Hey Tim,

Thanks for the answer.
Any idea of who I might speak with at equifax to resolve this.

Re: Question regarding possible split credit files.

Pretty easy to get to a live body at EQ IF you have a report number-

Might have to buy one $7 from EQ unless you have a recent annual credit report.

Re: Question regarding possible split credit files.

Hi Tim ,

Just an update on this situation.

I got the email address of a lady at equifax, sent her my request to merge both files on 3/17/08 and received a reply back from her today 3/18/08. Files Have Been Merged. Rare to get that kind of customer service these days.
WOW!   I had been trying to correct this for several months to no avail.

In case this may help anyone else here is her contact information. (personal info removed by admin)

Be as specific as possible with your problem and have any required information to substantiate your position.

Hope this helps.

Re: Question regarding possible split credit files.

My EQ file was split too!  When I asked for my free annual report, I got two reports.  One had no baddies, so in a perfect world I would have a 740-60 score.

I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with a CSR thinking I was making some headway, but she ended up having me fax my dispute with identity information (after insinuating that I must have tried to get credit using a fictitious identity).  Still waiting for a response ...
