Questions about specific accounts being reported

Are your accounts such as your water bill, electric bill, garbage bill, things of that nature...are they reported to the cbr?  I've heard they're only reported if they are delinquent.  Or is good payment history reported as well?  what about let's say you have braces and you have a payment plan worked out with your orthodontist and it's like a $5,500 balance?  Would that be an installment loan? or consumer finance thingie?  what's the difference?

Re: Questions about specific accounts being reported

No, utility accounts etc do not report to CB (unless you default).

There is some report, not on standard 3 CB, for my cell account. When I changed from ATT to Verizon they (Verizon) remarked that I had had a perfect hx with ATT.

I have a -0- interest loan from my dental provider, several thousand $, it is not reported to the CB. If I defaulted on it I'm sure it would be reported.

Dang.  That's exactly what I thought.  I just wish more companies would report good payment history.  Too much to hope for adding thickness to my credit file.  Oh well... Thanks for the quick response.

Re: Questions about specific accounts being reported

Although I have never had a util or cell phone company report anything positive to the CRAs, others in certain parts of the country have posted some util companies are beginning to report the CRAs on a regular basis. Now what regular basis means I don't know and whether these util companies report to all three, this I don't know either.

Re: Questions about specific accounts being reported

I live in Michigan and I know DTE Energy ( gas and electric) do report to all three CB if you are in good standing or in bad standing with them. I wish more utility companies would report if you are in good standing.

Re: Questions about specific accounts being reported

I also live in Michigan and I found out that DTE took a position in June/July 2006 that they would begin reporting all customers accounts to all 3 CRA's. They show up on my CR's in different spots. If I remember correctly they report my account as "Other" to one of them and "Revolving" to the other two.

When I found out about this I began wondering about how I was being effected due to the circumstances of my account. I am on a budgeted account where each month I pay an average amount based on the previous 12 months. Another part of this plan is that I signed up for "Interruptible power service" which discounts the price per unit I pay in exchange for giving them the right to shut off my service, if needed, during peak periods of use. It has not happened, yet.

Trying to make it short-- every month I carry a balance forward, right now it's about $700, and I think its being added into my balances due and hurting my utilization. Last week I filed disputes at all 3, CMRRR, but have no results yet.
FICO scores on November 17, 2014 (prior to applying for and being approved my mortgage)

EX=738
EQ=735
TU=754

FICO scores on March 4, 2015 after being approved for mortgage and buying the home, the mortgage isn't yet reporting.

Interruptible power service...wow I couldn't imagine offering for them to cut off my power.  I don't mind paying an extra $20 bucks or whatever to have guaranteed power at all times.
