When do creditors report late payments?
Was considered "late" by WF CC due incorrect routing number remade the payment 8 days later , Thank in advance
(from what I know its 30days just wanting to confirm)
The best way to handle reporting of lates when you have any dispute over the accuracy of the late is not to wait to contest the issue by way of an FCRA dispute.
The Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) makes provision for disputing any billing issue provided you dispute within 60 days.
Unlike the FCRA dispute process, which only requires the creditor to review their records and state that they "verify" the accuracy, the FCBA dispute process entitles you to account records they are using to support their assertions.
In your situation, I am a bit confused as to how any reportable late is even at issue. Being 8 days late is not a reportable delinquency to a CRA.
A 30-late for credit reporting purposes runs from the due date of the billing statement, not the date of the billing statement.
Thank you very much ... Its WF so idk how they look at things , but I was told that it wouldnt report its just 8 days I did get the late fee wavied
if it does report I will dispute with CRA , Thanks!
Easily disputable provided billing records are provided.
The definition of a late being based on 30 past billing due date rather than billing date is stated in numerous places in their credit reporting manual.
Under their reinvestigation rights, they can delete based on their independent determination of inaccuracy.
This is thus one of the rare exceptions where I would dispute via the CRA rather than filing a direct dispute with the creditor.
Haha .... Thanks !
There is no KD for 8 days late, it starts at 30. However they can have an internal note of paying slow.
