So I recently shared a story about being declined by Capital One, a bank I have 3 credit cards with. I thought the decline was strange since all my fico 8 scores are in the 660's.
However, I recieved the decline letter today and they disclosed my experian score as 596. So I checked my Experian app and Im at 661 fico 8. Pulled up my other fico scores and see bankcard model 3 is 596.
This is pretty shocking to me. When did this change take place???

How do you know what Fico model they used before??? If you're approved you never see the score they used, you just get a card in the mail. I have 2 Cap One cards, I have no idea what Fico score model they used to approve me. Their Credit Wise credit report uses Vantage scoring, so I never pay attention to that.

Wow, that's a big difference. Where did you get the Bankcard Model 3 score?
You can buy it right here on Myfico, its in the FICO Score 3B Report.
I'd look at the denial letter, unless it says FICO it almost assuredly isn't. Also look at the range.
If it does and the range matches the BC algorithm, then this is interesting as nearly nobody used FICO Risk Model v3 for anything, let alone the Bankcard Enhanced version; my bet though is the letter doesn't say FICO and it's probably an internal score which Cap 1 is known to use... Cap 1 has used a variety of scores in the past though admittedly, just this one is a left field score from the market perspective which is why I somewhat doubt it.
