I started getting alerts this morning that WF Card Services hard pulled my credit this morning. So I immediately checked on the experian website and sure enough it was pulled this morning. I called WF customer service and after talking to several people they told me that they had no record of why it was pulled and I should dispute it with the credit bureau. Why would I have to dispute it with the credit bureau if it was there mistake. Does anyone know a number I could call to get ahold of someone to get this resolved? If this is in the wrong section please move it. Thank You
Yeah, I think your best bet is to dispute it with the credit bureus, they will then contact Wells Fargo (who has no reason for the inquiry), or at least if they do, you will learn why and if not they will take it off.

Don't start off with filing disputes with the credit bureaus. A brief outline of what you probably should do:
Wait until tomorrow and get a copy of your Experian report ( a report via annualcreditreport.com is fine) to confirm that the inquiry is still being reported. If so, contact Wells Fargo again and tell them that Experian is reporting an inquiry and you want to know why as you had not applied for credit. Jot down the date/time/phone # of the call, and get names if you can of whomever it is you speak to.
If WF admits to having made an error or they claim that they did not pull your report you will then file a complaint in writing with the FDIC. As part of the complaint note that you had contacted WF but was not able to get the issue resolved. The FDIC will review the complaint and since it wouldn't be seen as frivolous they will open an investigation with Wells Fargo. Banks do not like having the FDIC nosing around and treat these investigations seriously as they will have to provide a detailed response.
If WF claims that you had in fact applied for credit advise them that you did not, and when you hang up go to the local police station and file a fraud complaint in person; be sure when you leave that you get the name of the reporting officer as well as the case # of the filing. With that information you would then open up a dispute with Experian to have the inquiry withdrawn (that is the exact technical term of what you want done with the inquiry) on the basis of fraud. They will not process the dispute without having the case # of the filing.

No. I've been through this before more than once when hard pulls were made without permissible purpose but there was no reasonable allegation or actual evidence of fraud.
If you filed a complaint with the CFPB you should expect that they would either forward the complaint themselves to the FDIC (or, if dealing with a credit union the NCUA) or more likely send you a letter directing you to file a new complaint yourself with the appropriate agency before they closed out the complaint.
And after all of this is done, please lock/freeze your credit reports.

So aliite update. I checked my report again this morning and the inquiry was still there so I called Wells Fargo back but this time I called the number listed on the inquiry. After talking to a few different people I got ahold of someone who said he would do some digging on it and call me back. After a few hours he called me back and told me what happen is that when I had my propel card hacked last week they cancelled it and sent me a new card but before they sent out the new card they were suppost to soft pull my credit to verify information and instead it was coded wrong and ended up a hard pull. He told me the easiest way to fix it would be to dispute it with the credit bureau and when they went to verify it they would see the notes on the account and see it was a mistake and fix it. So I called experian and explained it to them and now waiting on there respose to go any further.
