Re-Opening a Charged Off CC??

Hello All!

Is it possible to have a CCC re-open a charged off CC?
The card is a Cortrust.

Opened in 12/2002
Closed in 06/2003
Paid 02/2003
Remark: Purchased by another lender.

I guess they sold it to Asset but when I disputed Asset they removed it immediately. Cortrust is the only Neg. I have left. What could I do?

Thanks!

Re: Re-Opening a Charged Off CC??

I have only read here that a few people have, but most of the time its a no.   If it was a perfect account you would maybe have a shot at it, but if there were any baddies I wouldnt count on it.  Most you can do is call a CSR  and ask... all they can say is no.. right?

Ok well if I call and they say no, what other steps could I take to get it removed. My report states it will be removed 01/2010. That a little too long of a wait.

Re: Re-Opening a Charged Off CC??

Do you owe any money on the accounts, thats about your only hope. If you still show a balance you can DV the CA (CMRR) if you have a CA reporting, Im not sure what you do if you go straight to the original company, i think their is  a letter somewhere for that. And if they verify you offer them a PFD. But if your in the same boat Im in, and you show 0 balances, then all you can do is send GW letters and cross your fingers they will show some luv.

Re: Re-Opening a Charged Off CC??

Well the CA was on my report. It showed a past due of 597.00. I disputed it and they removed it. All thats left is the OC (Cortrust) with a balance of 0.00.

Anyone know a way I can get it removed?

If you do still owe part of the balance to the OC, try a PFD. Otherwise, GW.

Re: Re-Opening a Charged Off CC??

I had three charged off credit cards, Cap1, HSBC, and Applied Card.

Cap 1 I eventually settled and it now shows as a paid charge off. That was the best I could do with them.

I was able to get Applied Card to take the account back from the collection agency, accept 70% of the balance, and remove the tradeline from my credit reports.

HSBC was the best... I sent them a fairly substantial payment (I think it was around $200) and then made $50 monthly payments. After that first payment posted, they showed it as "Account closed by credit grantor" and "paying as agreed." After 14 monthly payments I was paid in full, and they re-opened the account.

What did you do to deal with cap1? I have a charge off that is going to suit thru a CA. Only $1K balance. I called cap 1 and they said deal with CA !!!!
