Re-affirmation of debt

I was recently applying for a CLI on my daily use CC and it was denied due to derogitory real estate loan. I had reaffirmed my mortage during my BK in 2013, is thw reaffirmation considered derogitory or is this just a simple mistake I should dispute?

A reaffirmation of any loan is not considered derogatory. But often if you don't get the lender to agree in the reaffirmation agreement to report your continued payments to the credit reporting bureaus they don't, and just list the debt as "discharged in bankruptcy". How is your mortgage reporting? If your CC cited a "derogatory real estate loan" then it sounds like your payments aren't being reported. And all accounts included in a BK fall off your credit reports at 7 years, so if your BK was in 2013 they should all be removed soon.

Finally, if a lender doesn't want to approve your request they will often just find something negative on your credit report to cite as a reason while it may not be their primary reason.

Re: Re-affirmation of debt

It shows all payments as current just lists status as derogitory. Thought it might be a mistake that never got changed when it was derogitory 7 years ago but ive never missed a payment since

@Anonymous pull your report from annualcreditreport.com and then come back and tell us what's listed in the fields for that account.
