Received initial collection bill today

I just received an initial collection bill from Debt Recovery Solutions.  The bill states that I owe $914.60 to Sprint pcs.  I have never had a sprint phone in my life, but I do have a Nextel, which is Sprint now, for the last 4 years in good standing.  I still have my Nextel (now Sprint) cell phone to this day. How should I go about disputing this bogus collection?

Re: Received initial collection bill today

Might not be "bogus" I had sprint went to nextel. I had 2 phone lines. I switched over 2 phones but changed the phone number for one of the phones. The guy at nextel never told sprint to cancel that line I found out 499.00 later. So they might still make you pay it. I dont know if this is what happened in you case I wasnt there but it might be a thought?? If so contact sprint tell them what happened they should fix what you owe.

Here what you're saying, but I never had Sprint in the first place.  I had Nextel for the last 4 years and because of the Sprint-Nextel merger I am now techinically with Sprint, but should I still call Sprint eventhough this bill has been sent to collections?

Send out the DV ASAP, BTW CMRRR.

If they can't verify within 30 days, they have to stop collecting. Plus they are not allowed to call you.

Don't talk with Debt Recovery Solutions over the phone, and this might just be me, but I'd call Sprint/Nextel to see what's up. The initial letter might have an acct number on it relating back to Sprint.
