When you reply please answer the following way:
Name of Credit Union
Which CB did they pull for your state?
HP or SP for Membership?
If HP, is same pull used for CC?
Applied Online or Phone for CC?
How many INQ at time of application?
Are they conservative?
What kind of limit approved?
Did they require POI? e.g. pay stubs, W2's
Side Note: I am not eligible for PSECU or Navy Federal. Wish I could join those
but I am a member of PenFed in case anyone asks why I didn't list them. ![]()
I joined NASA a couple of years ago. They pulled Chex for membership and I app'd for a CC of theirs (can't remember which). I was denied and they pulled EX. I can't remember my scores then, but I'd guess mid to high 600s. Inquiry count would have been less than 5 I bet. I tried again this time last year after closing on a mortgage. They again pulled EX. Denied. Had two inquiries. FICO at 680ish based on mortgage. No baddies. Util around 30%.
If anyone has used Affinity, please, do tell... I have one nearby and have been wondering about opening a Savings account there (eyeing a possible car loan in a year or two).
Heard nothing but great things about DCU......

+1
I was a member of GTE FCU for many years (around 15) --they have declined significantly. They started behaving more like a bank than a CU with poor service and excessive fees. And they didn't even ask why I was leaving or if they could do anything to keep me when I closed my accounts. Their Bauer Financial rating also went down.
I moved everything to Alliant 2 years ago and have been thrilled with them. They continue to offer high interest on checking and savings (well, what passes for high these days--higher than others), have fee-free ATMs everywhere, offer check scan deposits and a great website and iPhone app. My only complaint with Alliant is that their phone reps can't handle tech support issues--it's much better to email from within your account if you have an IT issue. They also offer a quarterly EX Fako.
I believe it was 2 hards - one for the main account, one for the CC. It was an EQ pull, which I think is the case for most CUs. I don't remember giving POI, but I may be wrong. The epic "Alliant rocks" thread will give you a lot more info.
I haven't yet, but am planning to join DCU this year to get the EQ score.

Same here .I have Affinity recently opend up near my home and would like to open an account there for future home buying (may be in a year or two). Anybody with any experience on Affinity? I am also planning to buy new car in few months so I was thinking if I can get an auto loan through them, build relationship with them and than ultimately finance mortgage through them down the road. Any ideas/suggestions?
DCU is nice for the free EQ FICO score you get.
What are you looking for in a credit union btw?
how is DCU for CL on their CCs?
