Records after the account closed.

I have an account that was closed on 2010, but on the credit report all kinds of activities that showed I paid or late on this account.

this is the pic <mod redacted>

Mod note:  Be sure any personally identifying info is removed from images.  --UncleB, myFICO Moderator

Anybody know why and how, or it is right.

Thanks

Matt

Re: Records after the account closed.

From what i see. Closed accounts with positive info can stay on a report for up to 10 years. Accounts with negative info can stay on a report for up to 7 years. You may be able to dispute but I'm not sure.

Re: Records after the account closed.

It is a credit card.

A closed revolving account is different from a closed installment account.

An installment account is closed when the debt is discharged (paid, BK, or cancelled debt).

Thus, there should be no continued reporting of delinquency status after closure of an installment loan account.

In distinction, the CRAs permit reporting of closure of a revolving account that is not yet paid (i.e., remains delinquent) as a means to prevent the consumer from making additional purchases, and thus increase the amount of the debt.

As such, a closed revolving account can still accrue additional derogs (e.g., monthly delinquencies, a charge-off, or a collection referral) after closure and/or payments on the debt.
