I was hit with a tax lien of $10,000 on my current home from the state of California. I got everything cleared up...Jackson Hewitt did not file a correct form. My current accountant got it cleaned up. In fact the state owed me $64.00 vs. me owing them $10,000. I wrote the big 3 asking them to remove the lien from my report. They all replied that it would remain for at least 7 years. I tried to explain it was filed in error but thier positions is it was not filed in error and the best they can do is show it satisfied. From reading various posts it appears this is holding my FICO down as my payment history, amountof debt and length of credit are all good.
Any suggestions or am I just stuck?
