I logged on to my Experian app this morning and was hit with a whopping 34 point decrease. The only change to my report is a "closed" capital one. The issue is that the account wasn't closed I just had my DH remove me as an AU. Does anyone know how long this will remain on my CR as a closed account? I assumed it would just stop reporting
I'm feeling so discouraged because I had finally made it into the bracket of good credit. It's so frustrating.

What is your current utilization and total available credit?
Strange that they would report the account as closed rather than removing it, but as long as the card has a good payment history and isn't reporting excessive utilization it should only continue to help with age metrics on FICO scores.
A loss in score like that would more easily be explained by changes in utilization or other scoring penalties like credit mix or ratio of accounts reporting balances or all zero penalties.
If it is still showing and you truly want it removed, I would start with calling Capital One. Have you pulled your reports to see if or how the account is listed on each bureau? Is the account reporting a balance? What other accounts do you have on your reports?

My utilization is under 2%. Out of 17500 available my balance across all cards is reporting $316. It's actually less becuase of some recent payments. I very rarely carry a balance.

The account has never missed a payment and has a zero balance. I have a total of 6 cards and only two of them have very small balances. Less than 2% utilization. My last late payment was in 2016 and no other derogs.
Do you have any other authorized user or joint credit cards?

No, I don't. That was the only one. I've been scouring all my current reports and can not find a single other change. It's not the end of the world and I know It will go back up. It's just frustrating to back down in the 'fair' category when I worked so hard to get it to 'good'.
That's strange indeed. Perhaps the card is now being discarded by the anti-abuse algorithm? Since there otherwise weren't any additional new penalties being imposed, whether the card was listed as open or closed shouldn't really make much difference. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps a scorecard reassignment?
Are you able to grab your EQ and TU scores? If so, are they seeing the same change?

I think I can get them from free credit report. It's been over a week since I last checked. I'll check them out and see if there's any changes there too.

If this is truly the reason (sometimes it's hard to determine) just have your husband add you back as an AU. It will report open next statement. That account will be treated as it was before. If you add it back and your score is still way down it was something else that caused the drop. This is an easy fix.
