Removing Disputed Items

Back in August of this year when I first found these forums, I decided to send Dispute Letters to the three CBRs regarding two accounts (that I have disputed in the past). Since then, I received no word back except that on CR it lists these accounts as "Disputed by the Consumer."

Here it is at least 60 days later and I've received no information for the CBRs or the CAs regarding these accounts. So today I sent off a fax indicating that there has been MOV issued to regarding the investigation into these matters, and I requested that these items be deleted since no one has been able to prove they are mine. I indicated that the FCRA stipulated that they had 5 days to comply.

By sending the fax, I'm anticipating that these items will get removed as soon as possible. Is my reasoning correct, in that the CBRs must remove disputed information that's been in dispute for multiple months?

Re: Removing Disputed Items

If the CRAs (EQ, EX and TU) aren't responding at all to your disputes (written, phoned, or faxed) send a dispute CMRRR. It's the "bigger hammer" that can be a prelude to a lawsuit, so they often do right when they see CMRRR. Even if they verify everything, by law they are supposed to respond in writing. Failure to do so is a violation.
