Removing myself as authorized CC user

I'm currently an authorized user on a credit card in my wife's name. It is being reported on my credit report, but due to a recent 30day slow, it's dinged my report some. If I remove myself as an authorized user of the card, will the account be removed off my fico? Thanks!

Yes, it will be removed for all scoring purposes.

I appreciate the response, guiness56. Now to determine what's more beneficial--the 6 yr history of this account w/ last month's 30day late, or no acct record at all...<

A recent 30 day will certainly have a big negative impact on your score.  Did you see a drop?

Without this account, what is your AAoA?

Personally, I would rather have a clean report than lose points for AAoA.

An additional plus would be that after deletion of the AU, your credit report and resulting score will then reflect only your own actual history, and thus risk.

Whenever a score is based in part on reported history of another, a credtior cannot, if they desire, determine your own personal score based on only your own history.

They cant "back out" history of another.

Follow up question - will there be any traces left from being an authorized user?

The TL will completely disappear once removed as an AU.

All of its history, payment info, etc.  Like it never existed.
