Removing old credit files from CR

Hi , I'm fairly new to the fico forums and was wondering , how I can remove some old accounts that are more then 8 yrs old off my credit report? They are all paid off. They were closed by the credit granter but never sent to collections? Again these account are more than 8 yrs oldYes we all goof up in are lives but we live and learn...Smiley Happy

All bad items will drop from CR in 7-7.5 years........good TL stay 10 years.

The negatives shouldn't be showing any more, if they're over 7 to 7 1/2 years old from the last negative reporting, as Happy Days said. And after that, you get the good history until the accounts fall off 10 years after closing.

What are the dates of any displayed lates? If there aren't any negatives showing, tip-toe away. They're helping you now.

Re: Removing old credit files from CR

I had 2 accts on mine show up after 15 yrs , 1 was paid and 1 not...even though it is illegal try and fight it.... I did get both deleted but ticked me, off that I had to mess with it to begin with and it cost me a loan....My issue now is my scores have taken a huge dive and I partially blame the fact I went digging...I started @ 654 before the old stuff and now I have them changing dates, status and lates, so now I am @ 534...huge drop..not even sure I will ever get the loan I needed, hindsight being what it is, if I knew then what I know now I don't think I would have started all this, but I'm in too deep to stop now....there has to be a light at the end somewhereSmiley Sad
