Reported with no notification

I recently recieved an alert that I had a credit report change long behold it was a nasty collection.  I have recieved no letter from this company and have no idea what this account is.  My question is should I DV?  The name of the company is Encore Receivable Management..  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Reported with no notification

Google the full name of the company "Encore Receivables Management" and you'll find a wealth of information including one January, 2008 request for information from people who have been contacted by this company in ways that violate FCRA.

I would make sure that it is this company and NOT the "Encore" who is the owner of Midland Credit Management (among others).  They're two different animals, it seems.

Re: Reported with no notification

Thanks atlastontheroad and HappyDays I appreciate your help in this matter.  I googled them and found some info(address/ph# to contact them) but I am still not sure what to do to get them off of my report.  I know that they are in violation since they did not send me a letter telling me their intentions.  Second, I know that even if this is one of my old accounts, it is definitely past the SOL and the seven years since it does not appear on any of my current credit reports and has not in the last 4 years since I began repairing my credit.

So my questions is should I DV the CC or should I contact the credit bureau and ask them to research this matter?

Thank again everyone for all your help!

Re: Reported with no notification

I just received a dunning letter from Encore. I don't have the letter with me, it is at the office, but they are collecting for a business account that went 3 stinkin' days past due. I guess the OC didn't have any faith in me. I had already sent the payment and am sure all it OK. I'll send a dunning letter once I know my check clears.

I think is came from Illinois. I remember thinking there was some sort of relationship with AFNI. I don't know why I thought that. If I look at the letter it'll probably click.

I hope we are talking about the same company anyway.

If I were you I would DV them based on the address on the CR.
