Reporting lags

I know there are always a lot of complaints on here about the CRAs taking a long time to update information. Why is that? And why does it seem like it is different CRAs for different people?

For me, it's EQ. My CC balance was updated on the other two reports on 1/31, but EQ hasn't updated since December. My AU account has been reporting on the other two since December, but EQ has still not reported, even though they definitely report to all three CRAs for my dad who is an AU on that same account, though for about 6 months longer.

For my fiance, it is TU that is slow to update. His car loan has updated every month for EX and EQ, but not since June for TU. What is so frustrating about that, other than it doesn't update the balance, is they are incorrectly reporting a repossession in June. The other two CRAs corrected their reports at least three months ago.

So, what the heck is the deal?

Re: Reporting lags

Dispute the items and make the credit bureaus update. State the balance listed/payment history is incorrect.

Re: Reporting lags

I disagree with this logic- UNLESS you are applying for credit and are trying to force an update.

I have seen nice accounts go away from a simple "balance dispute"

Re: Reporting lags

Timothy,

Can you explain what you mean by "go away"?

Re: Reporting lags

I too feel that EQ is not updating.  It's like a few weeks to a month or two after TU and MyFico. Hmmm.

I absolutely agree!  I had a $33k AMEX credit card drop off my EX due to doing this, as well as a $5k Lowe's account from my TU.  I just called AMEX the other day, and they are going to investigate it and get it added back on.  However, Lowe's credit provider is being idiots and acting as if they don't know what to do.  I guess i'll have to call TU and ask them what I should do in this instance.
