Requesting a PFD

I am going to send a PFD letter.  The amount owed is $409.00.  I would like to pay for half.  Do you think this is feasible?

Also, the PFD letter states that I "dispute" the amount owed, but I know that I owe it.  Should I still send the letter stating I dispute it?

Re: Requesting a PFD

I DV'd the CA, and they sent the bill from TXU Energy.  Should I now PFD the OC TXU?  Should I PFD for the whole amount ($409), or can I ask for half?  Would that just make them mad?

Re: Requesting a PFD

IMO, offer the PFD to the one who is reporting on your credit report. If you pay the OC, or if the OC accepts a PFD, the CA can still report on your CR with just as much damage as a paid vs. an unpaid debt.

I would PFD the CA for 100% of the amount owed. Yes, some have had success with a settlement and also has success in deleting it. However, DW was burned on a PFD of sorts (not like the PFDs drafted in here) we did many years ago with a JDB. They accepted the PFD and the money and did stop reporting. Unfortunately, they sold it to another JDB for the balance owed. Since then, I am certain that a CA's word is not their bond.

Others have also posted success with a PFD, but the CA never deleted as promised.
