Returned check accounts on CR

I had a bounced check with Certegy that has since been paid in full.  Apparently right around the time I paid it, the acct was sold to a collection agency.  Now EQ is showing both the original account with Certegy and the Collection Account.  The original account is listed as "Paid Collection" but the collection account is still listed as a collection account.  Is any of this information worth disputing?

Also, should i be concerned that the original account is in the closed section of my CR but the 'Date Closed' field for this acct on my CR is blank? I'm trying to get a feel for how much of a stickler should I be about stuff like that on my CR.

Re: Returned check accounts on CR

Both the OC and the CA can report at the same time, however only the CA, if reporting, can report a balance. If paid, both have to report $0. Looks like it is reporting OK. The date closed doesn't matter and has no impact on your score.

Send both the OC and the CA a GW letter and ask them to delete.

...and therin lies the problem.  The CA is reporting a $160 balance but I paid the account with the OC.  I'll try the GW letter and ask them to delete.

Never had one personally, but those types of accounts can easily get deleted if its old. I disputed one for my brother and it was deleted within a week.
