Ruff Credit start but there is hope

A couple months  after my bank of america closed my account (for reasons i rather not discuss)  I received a statement too my new address since I just moved too a new apartment, saying I was about $500 past due. I had 116$ left on my credit card when I closed the account.  I was completely shocked, I thought they closed my account and the teller telling me that I didnt have to worry about my current balance they would take care of it (his exact words). I called the bank and they told me that "you still have to pay your remaining balance even if your account has been closed". Since im a hardcore gamer only one word phrase came too mind, wow "I'm a Noob". So they told me that the late payments was going too show up on my credit report. I had no idea what a credit report was at that time i just liked the idea of spending money i didnt have. So the next thing I did was look up what is a credit report and my world changed.

So while I still had the CSR on the line i told her will this affect this thing called my credit score. Lucky she was really helpful and told me the basics of Credit in general. So the next step was too fix the problem, and luckily i had a great CSR that was ready too help. I set up Automatic payments too earn their trust since she said I should pay some of the balance for a few months before i ask for a good will on late payments. She told me it typically took 7 years but you could get it removed if they see your making an effort towards the balance. So i hung up and i had a nice plan to get rid of my late payment. After about 6 months i sensed that the time was ripe too ask them, and i was right. Bank of America removed the late payments off of their system and my credit score took a golf swing in the right direction bouncing it up 110+ points on all bureau after my 30-60-90 late payments stop showing. It went from 532 in June with late payments too about 670 in December with none.

During that 6 month period i dove into everything credit related too learn more about it and how it  helped me. I Also got my Credit one bank card around june since i was pre-approved for it, i thought this was good to show them i could handle credit responsibly. After January my score went up too about 690 after they increased my Credit one bank limit from 400 too 650. I Thought too myself I need more credit cards since I was reading this forum during that time but didnt sign up, and people had anywhere from 3-8 cards. So i went on my experian account and looked for credit cards within my credit range and BCE credit  card show'd up and i applied. I was shocked too get approved because i rarely get approved for stuff. Instantly gave me a 1k CL and i was excited to have one of the upper tier cards and a 2nd card in general.

Credit score is now 702 (finally passed the 700 threshold) and my Capitol one unsecured card that i applied for 3 days ago with a 500$ credit limit is on it's way. Now that i have 3 cards i plan on getting both my BCE and Capitol one too higher credit limits, since im hearing if you have a higher credit limit on some cards you will typically be approved for a new credit card with a high Credit Limit. Please note that all this hapn with a year so if anyone has late payments, try and get rid of them ASAP. The good will method worked for me and it's paying off big in my credit score.

Thank you all for hearing my story, hope this posted in the right forum
