@Anonymous wrote:Ok here is the deal:I noticed a collection on my CR's for $58 a couple of months ago. The OC is ATT. I have the same phone #, same Address, and I have not made any changes to my account and this is the same account they were trying to collect on.Finally, about 3 weeks ago, I got to speak with someone that realized that I did not owe them (ATT) but they in fact owed me. So I got them to straighten everything out, I spoke with a manager and told me that they would tell the CA to cease collections and that they would mail me a letter saying it would be deleted from my file. The collection is still on my CR's....Now last Friday (16th), I called ATT to see what was the hold up with the letter and the removal. The first person I spoke with said, ....it will be off in 60 days," I wasn't having that so I asked to speak with someone else. Now I was transferred to a manager and she told me she was sending out an email to all of the CRA's to delete the file and it should take them 3-4 business days to remove the item. I also asked her to send me the same letter that she would be sending to the CRA's. Still no letter AND...The collection is still on my reports...Now my question is what should I do next? Clearly this is not my fault and I do not think it is fair that it is taking forever and 2 days to remove this from my report when it probably took them 60 seconds to put it on my CR's in the beginning.Any help would be greatly appreciated because I feel like I want to explode. I also asked for a PFD from the CA and they said no basically--I was willing to pay because I just want it off.

Wow really!! What should I say in the letter? I tried to call them (I know, never call a CA, but I was desperate, but of course they were not trying to listen to me.
Get the name and extension of the person you spoke with at ATT. Let them know that you will call the OCA and have them contact them. Let them know that you do not owe this debt and that you have already verified this info with ATT and if the negative mark is not removed from your CR within 5 days, you will report them to the FTC. Folow it up with a nice fax with receipt capabilities. Don't know who your collector is but mine was CBCS or something like that I spoke with someone in their compliance department.
