Sad, but true.. progress, but not really!

I just realized today, that with me and DH both having 2/3 scores above a 620, we've reached the PRIME lending category for housing! Riiight??!! WROOONG!

Now because of the mortgage sinkhole, 680 is considered Prime! Thanks, irresponsible homeowners!

I am in a horrid mood now that I got this BS letter from Experian. My ugly isn't showing, is it?

ivy,

For conventional loans that may be true, but with FHA and VA you are probably eligible for good rates if the numbers add up.

But I agree with you in regards to irresponsible people ruining situations for responsible ones Smiley Sad

It"s easier to make the ones "who pay" than to fool with the ones that "never pay" So sad but so true it pays to be a loser.

Re: Sad, but true.. progress, but not really!

I understand the frustration, but just keep in mind it wasn't always because of "irresponsible homeowners".

Things happen, these things cause people to default. The same things that happened that led many of us here to this forum. We may not have lost our homes, but we defaulted on debts.

Then there are the predatory lenders, ARMS, etc.

Part of the problem also , IMO, is because of the current economy.

My scores are mid 600s - I'm getting an FHA loan for around 5.5% fixed (give or take a 10th of a % depending on the day of the week...).

Now if I can just find a stinking home...

There are all kinds of reasons that houses are foreclosed on Ivy...not just irresponsibility.  There are loss of jobs, death in the family, illnesses, divorce, abuse, etc.

I understand your frustration, but some people just don't have a choice.
