I had a collection deleted from my credit report. Yeah!!! I thought I would have a small increase, but when I bought my score, it dropped 7 points. It was listed under collections, not negative accounts.
However, I noticed that from all the disputes from (pre-hipaa) and DVing CAs, that the status date has become more recent. Is this why my score dropped?
I looked carefully through my report from 2 days ago, and that is all that has changed.
I would be looking at any other changes as well as a reduction in average age of accounts.
atlast.....
How would the status date have become more recent if it was truly deleted from your report?
Do you have any other derogs on your report?
If you don't you were rebucketed into a clean bucket and you are being graded against people with much cleaner credit histories, which is why you might take a small scoring hit. In time it is a good thing because being grouped with this type of credit consumer allows your score to grow much higher. You score should rebound fairly soon.
This could most certainly be the reason. Sounds like there are more CAs on your reports yet. The status dates being updated would certainly cause a score drop.
