Score increase from paying CA

I paid a collection(they repeatedly refused to PFD. It was my debt. I owed it.) Then I prepared to see my score go down when it updated to 'paid.'

But my score did NOT go down. It went UP!! It went up 22 points!

Strange. But I'm not arguing!!

Just curious how recent was it and how much was it for?

I would love to know too.

I was in the same situation and just paid mine.  Waiting on the update.

Re: Score increase from paying CA

It was from 10/2007, so very recent. It was only reported to EX.

I had paid one from 3 years ago, and gained all of 3 points. Makes no sense.

Re: Score increase from paying CA

Mine is from 5 years ago so I doubt I will see anything.  Right now they are reporting it every month so now that it's paid off perhaps I'll at least gain from them not reporting it monthly.

Re: Score increase from paying CA

Oh, that's encouraging I have two from mid 07 when I was (even more) financially strapped after a breakup, they're on my top 5 list of things to get rid of purely for the fact that they're so recent.  It's sad that I have a top 5 list of things to get rid of haha
