Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

Has anyone else had their Self credit builder account removed from their credit report? They just updated my new balance a couple days ago but now my Equifax report shows the account has been removed. I emailed Self to see what's going on and they said they're working on adding the account back. The email response is attached below.

Re: Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

Well thats good they're going to fix it. With the millions of data entries flying into the CRA's. Hiccups happen. Seems though EQ leads the group. See what happens next months update. Good Luck!

Re: Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

Of course, I'm not surprised mistakes happen but the timing of it couldn't have been worse. This was the month I made my first chunk payment and was hoping to see a nice score bump, especially on my Equifax which is what PenFed looks at for auto loans, and now I've lost the account completely. Self assured me in a second response that my account history will be restored so I'm hopeful I'll end up with the same score as had the account never been removed. It is what it is at this point but it's not a good look for them. This is the 2nd time Self screws up my credit report since opening the account 8 months ago.

Re: Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

I think Self, Inc is its own enemy. They actually, instead of reporting the ending statement balance to the credit bureaus, they report your last balance when they report at the end of the month. I believe Self, Inc was a benefit to the bank needing a stealth CD portfolio. I fell for the Okee Doke.

Re: Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

So, on November 17th I noticed my Self account was added back on my Equfax report. I was happy thinking the issue had been resolved. Well, today, 2 days later, the account has once again been removed from Equifax. For some reason this feels like a Equifax issue and not a Self issue. Unfortunately Self isn't giving me much info other than acknowledging there's an issue with Equifax reporting which they're working on fixing.

Re: Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

@MarkyB  Unfortunately, this may not be easy to clear up. The reason I say this is because Self, Inc uses one of those card services companies for their customer service and their self help is nothing but statement problems that you may have. Try calling and getting to someone higher than first level phone operators. As far as Equifax is concerned, you may want to leave them alone and let them fix the problem themselves for a variety of reasons. Also you can put a third party complaint into action i.e. CFPB.

Re: Self Inc. Account Removed From Report

I had been going back and forth with Self. It was clear that they were having a larger issue. There were many accounts that had been removed from Equifax database, not just mine. I spoke to a "manager" but that was no different than speaking to a regular rep. Their emails are filled with improper grammar and at times nonsensical.

As of Dec 2nd my account is finally reporting to Equifax again and my fico 8 score jumped up 5 pts as a result. I have paid off 50% of the loan principal. I intend on paying off the account early and cutting ties with Self as soon as I get the auto loan I am preparing for.
