Should I call?

Hi guys - new 2 this forum. I have two medical collections that are scheduled to fall off in 2010 and 2011 ($80 and $100 respectively). The collection agency is local, and I still go to this particular doctor. I can easily pay this stuff - should I just call them, offer to PFD and be done with it? I just don't trust collection agencies and credit bureaus to do what they say they'll do - am I being 2 paranoid?

Welcome to the FICO Forums, MichaelMT.

You want to call because you don't trust them?  Let's say you call and get your oral PFD agreement, you then PIF, and then when you ask when they'll delete, they tell you they have no idea what you're referring to.  Now what?

The reason you don't call is because you want everything in writing, precisely because they can't be trusted.

Re: Should I call?

Actually I meant calling them and getting them to send me a PFD agreement - I would never just take their word for it Smiley Wink  As long as I have that document from them they have to follow thru, don't they? I'm just wondering if I should just call 'em since they're local and ask for the PFD agreement instead of writing.

Re: Should I call?

How effective are pfd's i tried about a year ago ... to pay whatever amount was needed over the phone for a medical collection and they flat out told me they would not...  Wouldn't event consider it...

Re: Should I call?

Call the OC and see if they can remove the accounts from collections if you pay in full.

If they sold the accounts, then they won't be able to.

But, if they just assigned the accounts, they should be able to, if they will.

Re: Should I call?

What were the date of service...or DOLA       what is your SOL?   PFDs are easier to get if past SOL.
