Showing payment on my credit report

First of all my Credit score is at around 800,

I have many cards that I don't even use, now I have a question..

I have this BOFA CC too, that I haven't been using for the past maybe less than a year, so I want to use it in order to keep it,

if I use this card and make a payment qucikly right after, is it gonna show up as a payment on my montly report, or a statment needs to be generated first on the closure date, and then I make a payment so it can be reported to bureaus.

P.S. I know that using it, and make a payment right after can satisfay that active card user thing, but what about the report, I like to get at least one payment reported out of this card.

I have 5 hard enquires all after mar 2020 lol on my Equifax, and 9 on TransUn...

what can I do about this other than waiting for them to be fallen off?

Re: Showing payment on my credit report

Specific to BoA, it'll report shortly after the cycle date. Making a payment right after a purchase transaction will not trigger an automatic Credit Report update.

As far as hard inquiries go, they will remain on your reports for 2 years, but will stop counting toward some FICO metrics after 1 year.  So, as far as those go, letting them age and not add any additional hard inquiries can leverage some reporting benefits.

*Edited to expand CR abbreviation = Credit Report

Re: Showing payment on my credit report

idk what you're referring to as a CR update, but if you're talking about reseting the grace period clock back to zero, which the grace period varries from 1 to 2 Years depends on the creditor.., btw I have this creditor who I have been with for 2.5 year and they haven't even sent a notice, and I have another one who been with for 2 years and they finnaly sent a notice, that we're about to close your account even if you use it, it won't prevent us from closing it, and they haven't closed it yet lol

It will reset as long as you do one purchase and wait at least for 1 banking day so it can be processed by the system(I am not sure if this step is necessary but just to be sure I always wait) and pay right after, and it's field tested, and why it works? because they can't close your card if you used it.

Speaking of the report I was not sure, you must be correct thanks for letting me know.

@FinStarmeans if you want your activity/usage to report to your credit report (CR), you must wait for the statement to generate and then it'll be reported, though if you charge something and then pay it off right away, your balance would be back down to $0 and a statement may not generate at all. So I'd use your card, wait for the billing cycle to close, and THEN pay it off completely.

Correct. Thanks @OmarGB9.  I edited my original post to expand on that.
