If I sign on with a CMS like USAA (not currently a member) or EIDT, do they do a hard pull?.
I really need a CMS where I can pull all three every day for now. USAA seems to be the ticket - lowest cost and seems to have great customer service. EIDT seems a little more shaky - I've seen where people suffered long delays (weeks) getting user IDs, etc. It seems as if they are a very small company, and some could not get to a live person and wound up in perpetual voice mail.
All in all I think I'd like to sign up for USAA but I don't want a pull.
All CMSs result in a soft pull. It doesn't harm your credit to subscribe to a CMS.
USAA resells the EX product and there isn't a hard pull to join USAA.
Thanks, I knew that the pulls were all soft, but I wasn't sure if you could join without getting a hard pull to become a member like most CUs.
USAA is unique in that it isn't a CU and you don't have to join in the conventional-sense. You do have to register but it's free with no pull.
Finally signed on today. Seems like a good service. Thanks for everyone's help.
Silly question alert!!
What do you mean when you say hard or soft pull?

This is referring to inquiries. Inquiries show on your credit reports as either hard or soft ~ usually classified on your report as those seen only by you ( soft ) and those shared with others ( hard ). FICO scoring gives a minor score ding for hard inquiries but there is no score ding for soft inquiries.
Anytime you pull your own credit it will be a soft inquiry. When creditors pull your credit report it can result in either a hard or soft inquiry.
Thanks Pizzadude!
