So I get a notification from myfico of a score change on my Equifax report. To my dismay, my score dropped 23 points. I'm scrambling looking to see why and how. All my credits cards are paid with no late payments. No new credit inquiries etc. So I file a dispute to view my report from Equifax. Lo and behold I found a new account added to my report from National Credit Adjuster. They bought out my old Kays account the early part of last year and I have been sending them $30 weekly to pay down my $2827 that I owed Kays from 2009. Balance left is $1147 with no missed payments to this company. Can someone tell me why this account was added to my credit report and can they do that after I have been paying then weekly and one time. I am so upset over this
I already have Kays as a negative report on my Equifax and I understand that. But to the company I've been paying to diligently, not fair.... They bought Kays account and I pay them gosh darnit!!
Im sorry this happening to you OP hopefully more memebers can chime in with some answers ![]()
Paying them doesn't mean that it shouldn't be on your reports. If they bought it out they can certainly report. 23 points really isn't that much of a hit. However, this sort of thing is why you want to do whatever it takes to avoid derogs.
Why don't you contact them and ask for a supervisor...Just remember being nice on the phone will get you a lot further than being hostile or upset.
On a positive note, since the original debt is from 2009 that entry will be going away soon.
Well ignoring the ignorant rant from Elcocaino2010, gracias por tu ignorancia.. I am well aware that kays bad debt will report and did report to my credit report back in 2009 back when I was not smart about credit and/or scores. And yes it did ding my credit score back in 2009. But this new credit adjuster that I made a verbal contract over the phone with 1 yr ago for the amount that I previously stated, mind you I've paid 50% of the debt that my authorized user ran up with the remaing balance being paid within 2 mths this yr, well I notice that this credit adjuster showed up as a negative factor for late payment. Funny thing is, I have my bank statements showing all current payments since last year to this credit adjuster. Like I said, I'm frustrated and definitely will be calling Equifax and this so called National Credit Collectors. It's confusing that they would add a negative mark a year later if I've been paying them the whole year on time.
Btw, thank you for the decent and positive comments from the helpful people that have forum etiquette. I appreciate the positive feedback. ![]()
