Re: Speeling rant

And my personal favorites.....

sTrAnGE uSe of CaPs
Predominant among 13-year-old suburban gangsters on Myspace, usually accompanied by flashing dollar signs and glittery Playboy bunny graphics.

Mixture of tenses
I hate when they done that. Why they did that.

Anything with "izzle" added to the end, unless referring to a plate of fajitas from Chevy's.

Any word which is truncated with an apostrophe for no reason
Fo' sho'

The word "be" used in the place of "are."
We be...
They be....
Why you be...

Yes, very few people understand the subjunctive.

Easiest way to remember "was" vs. "were":  Use "were" for something that is contrary to fact.  "If I were a rich man ..."  I'm not actually a rich man, so I use the subjunctive form of "to be", which is "were" (instead of "was" which would be used if I actually had big bucks and didn't have to sit up on some roof singing about it.)   Smiley Happy

Re: Speeling rant

I am terribly sorry if I've offended ::laughing:: anyone with poor spelling, typos or bad grammar.  I'm usually really good about spelling.  Typos, on the other hand, get even the best of us.  Grammar...don't really have time for it anymore except when I'm on the clock.  With as little sleep I've gotten since my child was born, I'm lucky to utter (or type) a few sentences some days so as long as people get the gist of what I'm saying that's all that matters.

Besides, the last time I checked, this is a forum for credit repair not an English class or a spelling bee.  People are here to get assistance with their credit issues not to get a lecture on spelling and grammar.  The fact is many people have poor grammar habits, particularly when writing.  If you are rating people based on spelling then shame on you!  Go grade papers at a local high school if you want to judge someone's spelling and grammar.  We are all adults here and, unfortunately, some may not be as educated as others.

So for issues as serious as we're dealing with on this forum, when someone passes judgment on another because of lack of spelling/grammer skills or education, it's just dispicable (did I spell that right?  I don't care.  It doesn't matter because everyone knows what I mean.)
