Split File

I have just read about someone who thinks their file is split. I have looked around but cant find an explanation. Can someone please tell me or direct me in the right direction?

Re: Split File

Your file can only hold so much data. When data exceeds that limit, your file splits, into 2 files.

When you or a creditor pulls your credit, it is always a gamble as to which file they will get. Depending on which file is pulled as to what your credit score will be.

When this happens, you have to contact the CRA and explain what has happened and get the two files merged back together.

Re: Split File

Is it true that if you pull your report to many times your report can split? I have got my cr from a three CRA directly mailed to me, a tu report from truecredit with their score, and I want to get myfico reports and scores around Aug 31st. Is this to soon. Now Im worried about the report being split.

Re: Split File

Yes, that's one common cause of a split, but it usually takes a whole lot of soft pulls to cause this. Both EQ and TU have taken measures to prevent this, by no longer keeping as many softs on your records. That keeps the data fields from filling up so quickly.

At an estimate, I'll bet I've pulled my own reports more than 350 times over the last year, and not a sign of a split. And I know that there are others here who have done so even more. I do keep copies of my full reports hat come directly from th bureaus, in cast they ever need to be rebuilt.

Go ahead and pull your reports, so that you can monitor your progress! You should be fine.

Re: Split File

Keep copies of your credit reports in the event this happens to you. However. As previously stated EQ and TU have taken steps to prevent this from happening. Heaven forbid they should break down and get the same software that Experian is using.
