Status date changed on credit report

I've had a negative item on my credit report since 12/2007. I checked my credit report today and this item is now showing as: status date 10/21/13. Does this mean the company changed the date? I was expecting this negative item to come off of my credit report by June 2014 (based on the original date of report, 12/2007). If the company has changed the date. What do I need to do? Thanks for any help!

Re: Status date changed on credit report

The date of exclusion of an adverse item is based solely on a date related to its occurence, not when the furnisher last reported to the CRA.

For monthly delinquencies, the exclusion date is no later than 7 years from the date of occurence of the late.

For charge-offs and collections, the exclusion date is no later than 7 years plus 180 days from the date of first delinquency on the OC account.

Furnishers regularly update their reporting, either by changing prior information, such as account balance, or by simply reporting no change, and thus the status remains the same.  None of those reportings affect the credit report exclusion date of any adverse item reported under their account.

If a collection or charge-off with a DOFD of 12/2007, its maximum credit report exclusion date would be after 6/2015, not 6/2014.
