Status date

Hi there,
I am having trouble understanding the status date....

can anyone tell me..
1) can the CRA or OC update it to what ever date they want? (I have an old account i disputed and the date changed making it look like new charge off) ..I have asked them to change the date back as they know the charge of was 5 years ago but they said they can't...I find that hard to believe.

2) Or / does the status date automatically update everytime the Oc validates something you dispute, and also if there is any action on the account and that the cras/oc have no control about it?
   thanks  : )

#1 and #2. Everytime you dispute, communicate with the OC or CA (GWs, DVs, PFDs), have a balance update, have a late added, and others, the CRA will change the "update date" or "status date" on your CR. The CRAs are telling any viewer of your CR when that account was last changed. It is the OC or CA that will initiate that change within the account, but the CRA will do the date change.

I've found that changes to the report (anything not intiated by me) do not impact the score at all. However, I had disputed in the past (one of many problems with disputing) and had seen a score hit. It was re-aged, but rather FICO read the account as new. But any loss would be followed up with a rather quick gain, or at least in my case.

Re: Status date

thanks llecs,
I have an account no lates (as they removed them as they weren't correct) but it was a charge of in 2004..
Fico now says I missed a recent payment (going by my last status date) according to my reasons for low score ..yet i dont have one single late or missed payment on any accounts and certainly not from 3 months ago..more like 4 years.

I have been trying to get Fico to fix it ..the CRA and Oc can't as they say they're not showing anything to fix (which is correct)..its just fico ..

I'm thinking if I can get someone to change the staus date to date of charge off then my fico will not say i have these imaginary lates and my score goes back up ...but everyone says they can't fix it!

Right now i am on my second Myfico round of calls..it is being sent to technical department..yeah thats what they said last week when no one called me back as well!   : )
