DS was only eligible for $300 this year because his tax liability was less than $300.
The IRS "Where's My Stimulus Payment" tool that says his $300 is to be deposited today (May 8, 2008) also states:
"You should keep a copy of the IRS notice you received listing the amount of your payment. In the event you do qualify for the full amount next year, you will need to have the notice as a record of the amount you previously received."
The following references notices that taxpayers are to receive:
"The IRS will mail two informational notices to taxpayers advising them of the stimulus payments."
"Most taxpayers will receive two notices from the IRS. The first general notice from the IRS will explain the stimulus payment program. The second notice will confirm the recipients’ eligibility, the payment amount and the approximate time table for the payment. Taxpayers will need to save this notice to assist them when they prepare their 2008 tax return next year."
Has anyone received the "second notice" confirming eligibility, payment amount and time table? The only notice he has received was the much earlier "general" notice that described the stimulus payment program ... and his payment is now pending in his checking account.
He has not received a "confirmation" notice. Have others who received their direct deposit payments last week received an IRS notice that details the amount they were supposed to receive, prior to receiving it ... or even after receiving it?
