So I have been working on my credit history. I decided to argue the accuracy of the information in a collection in my credit file. The information was inaccurate and the collection agency had no record to prove otherwise. I received an email from the 3 services stating that it was removed.
I read on the Experian site that it could take one or two billing cycles to actually show an increase in my score. Does anyone have any idea how many points my score will go up (if any) for a collection that stated settled but paid for less than full balance?
I am just excited that I did this on my own and didn't have to pay someone $99.95 per month to do it.
Thanks
Depends very much what else is on your report; if it was your only negative, could move quite a bit if you have the credit history to support a higher score range. In my case though I got a tax lien removed and I gained 5 points as I had another tax lien on there. Nothing but goodness credit report wise, but nothing to get excited over from a scoring perspective.

No other negatives, but I do have some slow pays from 2010 and 2011 on my auto loans. We are but a number and I can't explain to the bureaus that I had major surgery in 2010 and my wife ended up with major surgery in 2011. Was a tough time for us. we got things paid but were running behind 30 days on some.
30 day lates from a few years ago aren't a deal breaker, you'll likely get a boost on virtually all scoring models if I had to guess. Also depends what your initial score was and which score you're using as a benchmark for that matter too.
