Re: Synchrony Bank - Didn't Report

Synchrony also did not report my credit card payoff nor did they generate a statment to reflect the payment.  Paid balance in full on 3/7/19.  Payment was due 3/15/19.  Statement closed on 3/22/19.   By 3/27/19 there still was no statement online and no updates to CRAs, so I contacted them via online chat.  I was first told new balances report on the statement closing date (which I knew and agreed).  Then the agent corrected himself and said zero balances are only reported on a quarterly basis, and my quarterly update wasn't due until the end of April. I answered that my balance changed from $400 to $0 before the most recent statement closed and therefore should have been reported.  The agent disagreed.  Before ending the chat I said it was unfair for them to report an incorrect balance until the end of the quarter.  The next morning I woke up to find the CRAs had mysteriously been updated.   It seems unfair that Synchrony isn't updated unless you question them, espeically when all other activity is reported in a timely matter.  Why not payoffs?  Is this legal?

Re: Synchrony Bank - Didn't Report

Good info. I was approved for a Lowe’s card two days ago. It’s already showed up on TU and EX as a new Account. It sounds like Synch has some weird tendencies, so this will definitely be a card I focus on keeping a reported $0 balance other than if I take advantage of the 0% financing they offer. AA is not something I feel like dealing with.

They do report zero balances monthly. They also choose to report randomly. They reported my feburary balance a week before my April statement. I called them and they reported my March balance correctly a few days after the statement like they're supposed to.
