Synchrony Bank Reporting

Hello all!

I'm new to the forums, so I hope I'm posting in the right place and not asking a dumb question. (Did a quick search but didn't see anything that matched my issue exactly.)

In an effort to add some history to my credit, I had a friend add me to his Banana Republic credit card account as an authorized user in Nov 2019. He said they added me and he even received a card in my name, but I haven't seen it reported on any of my credit reports. I know these kinds of cards are operated by Synchrony and I read that they are sort of known for reporting quickly and often. Am I missing something? Or am I anticipating a report too soon? (In contrast, my sister added me as an AU to her Chase card around the same time and it reported the next week.)

Can I call Synchrony to ask about this or does my friend have to do it? Would that even help? Is there any version of calling the credit bureaus to ask?

Thank so much for any advice or thoughts you have! Love the supportive nature of these boards. Can't wait to read more and get to know the community!

Re: Synchrony Bank Reporting

When the card will show up on your report depends on when the card last reported. If you know the statement date, that would help.

You might have missed November reporting.

Allow for one to two billing cycles before assuming there is a problem.

Thanks so much for the info -- I'll try to track down the statement date.

You're welcome. Syncrony reports AU accounts, so with a little patience, it should all work out.

Re: Synchrony Bank Reporting

Found out the statement closing date is the 13th of the month. He added me as an AU on 11/30.

Do you think that changes anything? Or should I still lean into that patience and wait until next month to start calling people?
