Synchrony off cycle reporting.

I closed my PayPal MasterCard because I’m annoyed with Synchrony’s random off cycle reporting. I listed off cycle reporting as the reason I was closing the account. I’ve had the account since last April and it started with a $5K limit. I never got an automatic CLI on the account and I never asked for one (because of the bear thing). I did ask for one right before I closed the account. I asked for a $10K and they brought me up to $7.5K and then I closed the account. Not too sure why I got this card- probably just because it was another not horrible card. I think there was a extra 2% bonus SUB so I guess it was a little better than a not horrible. Not worth the annoying off cycle reporting though. Why they feel the need to off cycle report a $7.00 balance on a $5K limit card is a mystery to me. I still have CareCredit, Rakuten and Amazon but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if they got closed. It was fun to do a little AA on Synch. I guess I'll see if they end up poking back.

In addition to the off cycle reporting, I'll add my annoyances

  • introduction of 3% FTF
  • shortest float of any of my cards
  • doesn't work in Apple Wallet
  • doesn't work with PayPal Key (so it can't be used as debit card for lower fees)
  • high interest rate relative to the other 2% cash back cards (I don't carry a balance but still annoying)

Re: Synchrony off cycle reporting.

That's very common on new cards, or when you make a large purchase. I personally think it's shady on an established account.

My Verizon only gets cell bill, for that very reason. They don't report until statement close.

Congrats on having account closed on YOUR choice!!

Re: Synchrony off cycle reporting.

Did you use the account regularly? I found that Sync doesn't generate a statement if I stop using it for couple of months; maybe that's just PayPal credit. I casually tried to close mine this week on chat since I find no use for it but the Auto system said there wasn't any representative available at that moment, lol, I just left it alone for now.

@Yasselife

I used the card for a small purchase each month.  I've had the card four for 15 moths and it off cycle reported 3 or 4 tiimes. I would pay it within minutes of the charges posting but they would still report when they felt like it.

I closed it online on the PC website.
