I desperately need some advice on a T-mobile collection that has been in collections with Amsher Collections Agency since September of 2007, but has just been sold or turned over to Mitchell N. Kay “attorneys at law”. They are offering me a settlement in the amount of $209 vs. the original $348. I don’t know if I should take the settlement or try to DV it first. I called the attorney’s office to try to ask a couple of questions, but the guy I spoke to was soooooo rude and would not answer any of my questions so I hung up with my blood boiling. He said the settlement offer would only last the “duration of the call”. There is no time frame for payment listed on the letter…that is why I called them in the first place. Will they count that phone call as proof that I’m validating the debt? I can’t really afford to even pay the settlement right now, but trying to do damage control. There is already a big ding on my CR from the Amsher Collections Agency and I’m afraid even if I do pay the settlement that there will be another collections entry from the attorney applied to my CR.
