TU has reports for me under 2 different names

Hi. I signed up here a while ago asking why my scores might be so radically different between sources. Well I finally mailed TU asking for a credit report (they wouldn't let me order one online for some reason).

In response they sent me two different credit reports!

One report has my name, the other has my name with "Jr" at the end.

The first report was in the envelope, then there was a paper that reads "The following is an additional credit report for the consumer." Following that I found the second credit report folded up.

Some accounts are on the first report, which has my old address and no "Jr" at the end of my name.

All of my more recent accounts and my new address show up on the "Jr" report.  On this "Jr" report my credit age is low and none of my old accounts going back 14 years appear at all.

Birthdate and SS# are the same on both reports. The only differences are "Jr" and address.

This could explain why when I use credit monitoring they only show 5 positive accounts and say my TU score is 690. But then when I go to get a car loan they say my TU is loaded with negatives and my score is only 510.  EX and EQ are always in the 510-540 range no matter where I check though.

The questions are:

1. Why does TU (and only TU) have TWO different reports for me, despite the same birthdate and SS#?

2. What should I do about this?

Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Call and tell them about it. You have a split file. You'll probably need to send proof that your not a Jr so they can merge the two together. Usually happens on EQ more than the others.

There is an option (or there used to be) to have a Do Not Confuse/ Validate name from the CRBs.

I've been going through the same issue for the past month. Annual Credit Report and Transunion online kept denying my credit report. I finally called in and they stated there was an error code 219 which is a split/duplicate report so I wonder if it's a system issue with Transunion because you're not the first person I've heard this from recently.
