Yesterday, I received a notification on my iphone that I requested to reset my Apple ID, I then checked my email and received the passcode to use to reset my password; I never requested this and alerted Apple customer service and I also changed my password right away.
Today, I checked my Experian and saw that there was an inquiry blocked yesterday for a Discover card app. (I have 1 active Discover card) I called the fraud dept and verified that it was not me. The fraud dept even said they entered my name incorrectly - I feel violated. I am certain the same individual who tried to access my Apple ID is the same one who tried to get a CC under my name.
EX, TU, and EQ are all frozen.
Glad it worked. I put one in place at the end of last year after I was informed by my credit monitoring company that my social, DL#, e-mail, b-day was found in the dark web due to T-Mobile. I also put a freeze in ChexSystems so they cannot open bank accounts in my names. Be vigilent of soft pulls on your credit report also, especially from creditors you do not have any business with because I think they can still access your credit.

@Caribsa89 my Chex is frozen, too! Always! I review my reports weekly and look for soft pulls as well - thanks for the reminder.
Found the reason why. If you are in CA and have a CCW and/or applied for one, freeze your credit bureaus.
@ceejay78 Wow, that is scary . . . thanks for posting!!!
