The consequences of disputing...UGH!!!!

We all know that disputing can go a couple ways....it omes back verified and it stays, or it comes back unverified, and you win.

Well...I have on EQ ONLY, a Newport News CC opened in 1999 that was reporting a 30 day late from 2009, which isnt corrrect because my last payment to them was in 2007, and the acct was closed in 2007 by me right afterwards.

Sooooo, I disputed, "never late"...

EQ sent me an email, and it couldnt be verified, so they DELETED THE WHOLE TRADELINE!!!  UGH!!! I just wanted the 30 day late gone Smiley Sad  so, my AAOA took a small dip because that was my oldest CC reporting on EQ. oh well..

I guess I sort of won in a way...the "negative" is gone, and one less one on EQ now, but, I still wanted that TL reporting, LOLSmiley Happy

Heh, yeah disputing can be a double-edged sword on multiple fronts.

If it were me with your mortgage time horizons and what I think your file looks like currently, I wouldn't worry about it overly much - negatives off the report are almost always a good thing, though a 30 day late from sixish years ago maybe not.  I might've let it ride on the theory the late would be excluded before the tradeline fell off as my plan in your shoes would be to sit on my hands until mortgage, patience mon amie!

As it is depending on when you hit the mortgage process in 2017 and the close date of the cc, your tradeline might be airstruck on the 10 year rule anyway so might be a wash looked at from that time horizon.

I can empathize though I think on the whole you have a better starting place than mine when it comes to mortgage qualification.  If you stay on the credit straight and narrow over the two years, don't see any reason why you can't hit my scores on the mortgage trifecta which didn't suck on the conventional loan side.
