The most helpful community on the interwebz...

is Myfico.com! You guys are awesome. I actually started my credit journey about 3 years ago, when I was still in grad school, with scores in the 500's. I didn't have an unsecured credit card and truthfully after living overseas for a few years I was completely lost. After a few great tips from the board and getting some baddies removed from my report I was able to get my score up to the low 600's and was able to get a credit card. You guys also told me about places like DCU that helped me get an ultra low auto loan and credit unions like NFCU which helped me get large credit lines to lower my utility. By the time I applied for a mortgage last year my scores were in the 700's allowing me to get a great interest rate. MyFico.com has literally saved me thousands of dollars. Since finding this site, I've qualifed for some great credit cards, found out how to get free fico scores, learned how to use points for great deals (around the world trip in first/business class and luxury hotels for our honeymoon) and have seen my scores go up dramatically. In fact, I'm getting dangerously close to 800 fico terroritory:

Just wanted to say thanks and hopefully offer a bit of encouragement to people that are in my former situation. You can get your credit score up. It will take time and patience but you can do it and this community is a great resource. Once again thanks MyFico.
