The tortoise eventually wins the race, right??

After not getting a single scorewatch alert since 10/12, I was excited to see one in my inbox today.

(drum roll, please)

'Your FICO score increased by 1 today'

I know the process of rebuilding is slow, but this is a bit extreme Smiley Indifferent

Slow and steady wins the race in the end, I'm sure - but some instant gratification would be nice occasionallly too!

Scoreclimber,  Something that I have noticed to bump my score up almost intantly (30+- days) is paying down on my cards untill its below one of those major points.  Ther eare many other threads here relating to that.  I don't know what your credit scores are but also keep in mind that after a certain point (720+) you will not see as many generous increases.

UTIL<75%
UTIL<50%
UTIL<30%
UTIL<10%

Good Luck,

Hey, Tavares, are you from Brasil? Just about the only thing I listen to at work any more (under headphones) is Bebel Gilberto, etc. I drive my co-workers crazy, because I sing along, although I don't know a word of Portuguese! Smiley Very Happy Well, except "triste", which seems to be in every line of every song...

Houlind, good to hear that Smiley Happy  I love Musicas Brasileiras too.
I am a Programmer by day and Classical Guitarist by night, and I Play lots of those Jazzy Bossa styles. Samba & Bossa novas tend to be "Triste" by nature with lots of "Choros".
Check out this site, nice info there: http://www.maria-brazil.org/mpb2.htm

Ohhh, by the way, I am from Cape Verde Smiley Happy

Re: The tortoise eventually wins the race, right??

Thanks!  I did just pay off 2 of my cards completely and 2 down to <10%.  I don't think any of those posted yet so hopefully I'll get a good boost when they do.  I have 4 cards so my plan is to use 2 each month (at less than 10% util of course) and then PIF once they report.  I figure if I rotate them I'll only ever have 2 cards reporting low balances and still use all my cards to keep them active.  I hope if I do this for the next 3-4 months I'll also see a nice boost.

My scores currently are 571, 601 and 616 - hoping to get them all above 620 by February/March.

Scoreclimber,

That is a great plan that you have there.  Stay focused while improving your credit and score.
I did pretty much the same thing about 2 years ago.  The only difference is that I had lots of bad stuff (3 lates and 2 collections and 1 Public record).  I got them all of and got me some credit cards as I did not have any at the time.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the link! I wish we had music like that around here, but I doubt that will ever happen. I started listening to bossa nova when Tom Jobim and Joao Gilberto first hit the US in the mid-sixties, which will reveal my age pretty nicely. I own a guitar, but with two jobs, I haven't figured out how to find time to learn and then to play...  Smiley Very Happy

Well, if you count malasadas and Portagee sweet bread, that's true!
